Al Fresco Dinner Party in a Rose Garden

This summer evening soiree with good friends in historical Balboa Park’s Rose Garden was centered around the dinner table. With an emphasis on being together and sharing a meal with close friends, MIHO leaned into the romance of the Marston House Rose Garden with warm rattan textures and cheerful florals. Yet we kept the design modern with a monochromatic tabletop.

The al fresco dinner featured a summer salad with stone fruit, heirloom tomatoes and burrata. Dinner included local fresh caught swordfish dressed in a fermented tomato chutney, citrus and olive served alongside a whole roasted chicken with za’atar crust, farmers market vegetables and roasted peewee potatoes and mushrooms. Dessert was an airy lemon mousse with poppyseed shortbread. The candles and twinkly lights let our guests chat long after the sun went down and stars came out.
