Comic-Con Influencer Event
with the Cast of The Rings of Power

Gaslamp | San Diego | California

CLIENT

Amazon Prime Video

In partnership with Cat/Alina Productions, we designed an in-depth and highly conceptual food, beverage and hospitality program that was the foundation of the gathering. The key objective was orchestrating the influencers from table to table after each course ensuring they had equal opportunity to meet and chat with every cast member. The conversation was buzzing and the room felt electric. Executing a service of this importance, in a COVID-safe environment, with the utmost taste, was a challenge we met with precision and style.

PROJECT

MIHO was called upon by Amazon for the second consecutive year to make the biggest impact at Comic-Con out of all the very competitive streaming platforms. For this high-end concept, we hosted prominent social influencers to enjoy a sneak peek of the highly anticipated trailer of The Rings of Power. The influencers were then treated to a fine dining, four-course lunch with the entire cast of the series and top Amazon executives.

DESIGN

The venue was transformed into a mystical forest with an abundance of live plants, vines, and moss. MIHO and Cat/Alina collaborated to design these natural elements into the menus, tablescape, food stations and bar. Our chef created custom, plant-forward dishes that added to the depth of the immersive experience.

TRAILER

Guests checked their phones prior to entering the theater built into Venue 808 and watched the never-before-seen trailer for The Rings of Power. As guests entered the theater for the viewing, the cast of the entire show snuck into their seats for an intimate culinary experience. Guests exited the theater and were stunned as they found their seats across from the actors they just watched on screen.

COSTUMES

Guests were up close and personal with the original costumes from the show which were flown out from London.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

HARVEST STATION

Upon entry into the mystical new world, guests were greeted with an 18-foot charcuterie board that looked like a scene plucked from The Rings of Power series. Our experience designers worked alongside the culinary team to create an inviting and edible table of individual cheese & charcuterie cups, wild mushroom and quail egg bruschetta and locally sourced vegetables with a house-made baba-ganoush. The design of the station incorporated earthy elements like fresh loaves of bread, wooden vessels with live mushrooms growing from their base, petrified wood, poppy and onion flowers and an assortment of edible elements.

TRAY-PASSED CREATIONS

Scrumptious single bite appetizers were passed around as guests mingled before the trailer. Caviar and house-made biscuits with ranch crème fraîche, beef tenderloin tartare with jicama, citrus tuile and cornichon aioli, the vegan red beet chicharron with smoked beet tartare, grapefruit and allium flowers and savory vegetarian macaron with pine nuts, fig and creamy goat cheese were enjoyed by all.

DINING EXPERIENCE

As guests exited the theater after the trailer, they were surprised and extremely delighted to see the entire cast of The Rings of Power series seated at the long communal tables.

Fans found their first seat and sat down for a first salad course of heirloom tomato, stone fruit, housemade herbed whipped ricotta, purslane, honey black pepper vinaigrette, caramelized tomato jam and conversation.

Plates were cleared and guests moved to a new table, across from new cast members. Second course was an avocado roll made with quinoa, wild strawberries, medley of toasted nuts, basil crumble, strawberry vinaigrette.

For the third course and once again, a new table with new cast members, all guests enjoyed a mole braised short rib (or tofu), cocoa nib streusel, carrot purée, local root vegetables.

DESSERT

As guests settled into their last seating of the afternoon with the final cast members, the MIHO team plated a special dessert from partner Salt & Straw. A toasted oat and candy cap mushroom dilly bar with completed the luncheon.

A tree-lined path adorned with lanterns paved the path to the bar where we served a custom cocktail made with vodka, lime, strawberries, blackberries and house-made basil shrub. Our middle earth mocktail was cucumber, lemon, fennel and soda. Of course, natural wines and local beers quenched the thirst of fans and celebs alike.

BAR

The intelligent design and successful execution of the event ultimately led to the achieving the strategic goal of the event. The influencers were given special access to the celebrity cast like no other event offered. Moreover, they shared their experience on their social channels to help promote the series and further propel the mission of Amazon Prime Video.
